What's Hap-pinning

Linking up with the ladies Jessie and Jenn today for What's hap-pinning!

I hate to admit it but lately my husband has been on Pinterest more then I have (don't tell him I told you that he has a Pinterest). But his board "for the wife" is my favorite. The things he pins are totally on point

Those basically sum me up in five pictures. To say he knows me is an understatement.

Happy Wednesday everyone!! We're halfway to the weekend!!

14 Weeks :: Bump Date

Happy Monday! Starting off this week with my first bumpdate.

How far along
14 weeks, due March 26th. Hello second trimester! I sure am glad to see you.
How big is baby
A tart little lemon, 3.4 inches long and 1.5 oz

Oh hi hormone headaches.... nice to meet you. I've always struggled with headaches (tension and migraines) so as sad as it is I'm actually used to having headaches almost constantly but not being able to take my usual hard core headache meds sucks if we're being honest. Tylonal just doesn't have the same effect. I will however gladly take headaches over the constant nauseous feeling that I had for a solid two months during the first trimester.

Maternity clothes
Girl yes. Before I actually got pregnant I had already gained a few "bloat pounds" thanks to a few rounds of clomid (post about that to come) so the jeans were already getting a little snug. I've been loving my belly bands because I habent found any maternity pants that I like yet. But maternity shirts are my favorite thing ever.

Stretch marks

Ugh this has been a nightmare, literally. Between not being able to get comfortable, the terrible dreams, and having to get up 12x a night to pee I'm lucky if I get a total of about 4 hours.

Unknown at this point. I'm about 99.9% its a boy but we'll see! Hurry up 20 weeks!

Nope nothing yet.

Best moment this week
Finally announcing to the world that we're expecting!

Food cravings
Sour patch kids. Give me all the sour patch kids....

Missing anything
Not even gonna lie... I'd love a big ole glass of wine with a side of tequila.

Have you started to show
See above picture... yup. Although I still think I just look like I've gained a few.

Labor signs

Wedding rings on or off

At this point its still jammed packed full of crap. It stresses me out every time I walk by it.... maybe I'll get started on it this week.

Ha. Yet another thing I need to get started on this week. I felt so crappy the first part of this pregnancy I didnt do so much as lift a finger.

I'm so excited to document the next 6 months of this journey!

Five On Friday

Happy Friday yall!! I don't know about you but it seems like this week flew by, which I'm not complaining about. I'm linking up with the ladies for Five on Friday because it just helps me get ready for the weekend!

If you missed it, I made a little announcement yesterday on the blog and social media. And the outpouring of love that we received meant so much to me! So excited for this next step in our lives.

Speaking of yesterday, it was Tyler and I's fourth anniversary and I woke up to the sweetest card ever. I'm pretty sure it was made just for us. Hubby did a great job picking it out.

Sticking with the anniversary theme, we celebrate every year by going to Festival in the Park which is a yearly event here in Charlotte. I'm just praying that the rain stays away tomorrow so we can enjoy the festivities.

I have the best husband ever. I mentioned in passing a few weeks ago that a moon pie sounded like the best thing ever (hello pregnancy cravings) and I got home from church on Tuesday to find three boxes of double stacked moon pies on our kitchen counter. I won't even lie. I almost cried. I landed the husband lottery.

The outtakes from my little photo shoot with the dogs for our baby announcement... It took 30 minuets and lots of bribing with treats to get them to both look at the camera at the same time. But the outtakes are pretty funny.

Have a good weekend everyone!!!

4 Years and an Annoucement

Today marks four years since we said "I do" and this past year has been quite the roller coaster ride. It started with me on bed rest after having my gallbladder removed and is ending with the announcement that our family will be growing by one in March 2016.

The road to this moment wasn't easy, it was filled with tears, endless prayers and doctors visits. Just when we thought this wasn't possible we were blessed in the most amazing way. I'll share more about our journey later. But for right now all I can say is God is so good.

Five on Friday

I was pretty sure that this week was never going to end. Coming off of the holiday 3 day week was a tough one for sure. Our house has also been battling a terrible head cold the past two weeks which has taken its toll for sure. I'm praying that we are back to 100% this weekend because I really need some fresh air in my life. To get this weekend started I'm linking up with the lovely ladies for Five on Friday

I've officially discovered the best dry shampoo known to man. If you haven't tried Batiste yet, you need to. They usually have a whole shelf full at TJ Maxx so get your booty over there and stock up. Like I mentioned earlier, this head cold is kicking my butt and the last thing I want to do is wash my hair and spend 45 minuets drying/styling. So dry shampoo and a side braid has been key this week.

We've been following Dave Ramsey's get out of debt program for the past few years and as of Thursday we are officially DEBT FREE! I mailed out the final payment on my car on Monday and the check posted yesterday. Talk about a weight lifted off our shoulders. We have paid off multiple credit cards, college loans, store credit cards etc. They say that you shouldn't talk about money because it makes people uncomfortable but in my opinion being up to your eye balls in debt is way more uncomfortable then admitting there is a problem and doing something about it. Sure having debt these days is considered "normal", but lets me honest... who wants to be "normal"!? I'm thinking of doing a whole post about this in the future. It wasn't easy, but man oh man it was worth it.

Miss Oklahoma's talent dress... I'm in love and need it in my life like yesterday. (Crappy picture because I had to screen shot a YouTube video. I couldn't for the life of me find a good picture of her dress online!)

Snapchat. I'm super late to the game on this one, and I never really personally post but I love seeing everyone's stories. My favorite person to follow right now is Shalyn from SoShay. Her and her husband (DDHP) are in Italy right now, and the videos/pictures she has been posting are breathtaking! Follow her right now: shalynnelson

All things miniature. I've always been obsessed with things that are tiny, especially food/drinks. Right now I'm loving my 8oz mountain dew cans, and fun size snickers (yes I have a sugar addiction). It's just enough to satisfy my afternoon sugar cravings, but not too much to put me into a sugar crash at 4pm. Needless to say I love Halloween season because I can get all of my favorite candy in mini sizes!

Hope everyone had a fantastic week! And cheers to a fabulous weekend!

Whats Hap-"Pinning"

Linking up with the adorable Jessi and Jenn for Whats Hap-"Pinning" Wednesday

Last Saturday the Husband came home from the grocery store with 2 massive butternut squash and said "can you look on pinterest to see what to do with these?". Evidently they were on sale and "looked good" so my chef of a husband decided that while he had never made butternut squash anything that this was a perfect time to try.

After some scrolling I came across this pin which looked easy enough so I screen shot the directions and we got to work.

Roasted Butternut Squash with Cinnamon and Nutmeg Recipe:

Recipe Type: Squash
Yields: 2 servings
Prep time: 10 min
Cook time: 30 min

1 small butternut squash (about 6 to 7 inches long), halved lengthwise
2 tablespoons butter
Brown sugar
Ground Cinnamon
Ground Nutmeg

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Line a small baking sheet with non-stick aluminum boil.
Slice the stem off the top of the butternut squash and cut each squash in half lengthwise. Scoop out seeds, membranes, and discard.
Lay the squash halves on the prepared baking sheet. Spread 1 tablespoon butter on each of the squash halves (on top of the squash half and in the cavity). Sprinkle brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg over the top of the butter.
Cover the prepared squash with another sheet of aluminum foil, folding edges tightly over the edges of the baking sheet.
Place in oven and cook for approximately 30 minutes. Remove the aluminum foil and cook approximately an additional 10 minutes until the squash is tender when pierced with a fork. Remove from oven.
Makes 2 servings.

I will admit that our squash were evidently massive because we ended up having to bake them for almost an hour instead of the suggested total of 40 minutes.

The prep was easy (well watching Tyler was easy) and the result was yummy for sure. We actually ended up scooping out the cooked squash and mixing them in a bowl with some more brown sugar and baking for an additional 10ish minutes. They were creamy and sweet and a perfect side dish for the first crisp day of September.

I of course forgot to get a picture of the finished product but trust me, it was yummy! If you like sweet potatoes or pumpkin anything you'll love this dish.

More about our bed

I feel like all I've been talking about lately is bedding but like I said in Friday's post, I'm basically obsessed right now.... I've been on the hunt for a white quilt for our bed and I've searched everywhere online and in stores. Then of course I finally found one I'm in love with yesterday at the one place I hadn't searched yet, good ole' Target!

We were at my parents house for birthday lunch for my sweet dad and per usual Tyler the chef had to be there at 10am so he could get the chickens in the oven. Well of course we forgot the basting brushes in our scramble to leave our house at 9:30am so I volunteered to "run to target real quick" once we were at my parents.

Of course a woman does not just "run in target to pick one thing up" so yeah. I ended up in the home section and there it was! A whole section of quilts!

Yes, I found the basting brushes that he needed! But of course before we ate he had to announce to everyone that the skin on the chicken wasn't as crispy as it should've been because I took too long at target. Oops.

I ended up going with the Threshold Raw Edge Quilt which is actually 10% off right now!

I'm basically in love and it was a very successful Target trip. Now I just have to find/make a bed skirt, and I still need to talk Tyler in to making the headboard I want.

Hope everyone else had a successful weekend!
