Five on Friday

Happy last day of February!

One:
My hot/cold therapy compress. This sweet piece of engineering has gotten me and my bad hip through my second week of P90x3. While I get funny looks because I sit on it at work I don't even care. Judge all you want folks, but my butt hurts and alternating hot/cold is the only thing that helps!

CVS Deep Soothing Hot Cold Natural Moist Heat Pack

Two:
I found an amazing peanut butter icing recipe and is super easy to make! It also tastes dang good on a chocolate cupcake (when Tyler is out of town and I'm home alone, I bake... it's bad)

Three:
My sweet (bossy) sister. She talked me into making a Love is Pink Facebook page this week, and while I have no idea how to run/use it, it already has more likes then I have followers on blogger so it works I guess.

Four:
I found my dress for my cousins bridesmaid luncheon and it was the FIRST dress I tried on. How does that even happen? I also found the perfect shoes (which took longer to find, but I'll try on shoes all day if needed).

Five:
Last but not least, I'd like to shout out to one of my besties, Beth, and say Happy Birthday Blue Magic!!!  Girl.... we've been through a lot, including the birthday pictured below which means we can make it through anything! LOVE YOU!!!

Don't mind the awful faces.... those lemon drops were a bi*ch (ohhhh to be young again when slamming endless shots at the bar was a normal Friday night, it's crazy how things change).

Hope y'all have a great weekend!

A Day in the Life

What does a typical Tuesday look like through my eyes....

Drive to work... so much traffic. "I hate 485" *said everyone in Charlotte*

Ace&TJ button... du. If you don't listen you need to download it right now!

So many emails

Quest bar snack = chocolate crumbs everywhere

File, file, file

Getting gas so an awkward selfie was a must

Paperwork, so much paperwork!

Lunch! Yes at 2:30, don't judge me, rice and tuna.

Time for some crystal lite energy! (this will be Spark in my glass soon!!) And I know you like that balloon dinosaur in the background... that poor thing is slowly withering away but I refuse to toss him.

Key lime greek yogurt with a smashed up granola bar = best thing ever

The drive home is a lot better then the drive to work, especially now that it stays light out!

Yoga! This kicked Tyler and My's butts!

Me and the girls watching Tyler pack for a business trip, none of us are happy when he has to go out of town

Welcome to my boring fabulous daily life. That basically is what every weekday looks like. The only difference is the 6:30 workout, and the food.

Happy Wednesday everyone!!!! Here's to being half way done with the work week!

P90x3 Week one

Week one is done.

I'm down a pound but I'm pretty sure it's just water weight. I can fluctuate 1-3 pounds on a weekly basis without changing anything so I'm not really excited about that one pound.

Don't get me wrong, I know I wasn't magically going to drop 5 pounds the first week. I honestly only want to lose 10-12 pounds total, which I'm starting to think won't happen. I'm putting on more muscle which I know weights more, so I'm trying my best not to focus on the weight but how I look/feel.

One thing I'm not too excited about is that I'm not burning as many calories as I was doing 9rounds. I'm not sure if I'm just not going 100% because I'm figuring out the different moves, or if it is more muscle building rather then moving, moving, moving like the 30 minuets of 9rounds was.

I do need to work more on my diet (I know this is a huge part of getting in shape). I have cut out alcohol during the week and have kept it to one or two drinks on the weekends. And I maybe will have a few sips of soda a week (I can't help when Tyler pops a cherry coke... I have to sneak a sip). I now just need to work on cutting out the cookies....

Tyler did get me new shoes which I'm excited about! We both needed cross trainers instead of running shoes and he picked me out these all on his own!

So fingers crossed that the shoes will make a difference! We'll see... I'm excited for the next 12 weeks and optimistic! 6 pack abs here I come!

Sunday Social

Sunday Social

This Weeks Questions:
1. Favorite breakfast food: Waffles, a big belgian waffle drowned in syrup... doesn't get any better then that. And the sad part is, we have a waffle maker and I think it's been used once in the 2.5 years we've been married. I think I'm planning a head and next weekend I will have waffles!

**edit**
Tyler saw me writing this post and goes "I'll make you waffles right now" So YAY I'm getting waffles this morning!

2. Best way to spend a free day: Sleep in till 9 or 10, enjoy some coffee, play outside with the dogs, eat lunch somewhere with Tyler where we could sit outside, spend the afternoon with my mom and sister doing girl stuff, then ending the day with a cook out at my parents with the family. That sounds perfect.

3. Airline ticket to anywhere in the world….where would you go and why? Ireland, I've always wanted to go and I'm pretty sure if I go I won't come back. Tyler went in college and has the best stories. Between the history, sheep, and beer I think it would be my dream come true.

Some of Tyler's pictures from his trip

4. You can only leave the house with one thing…what is it? My purse... does that count? Its one thing that has lots of things in it? Or how about this, my phone. If I couldn't take my purse I'd take my phone.

5. How do you take your coffee? However my husband makes it :) Just kidding (kinda), with sugar and cream! This morning it is caramel coffee, with sugar and brownie sundae creamer. YUM

Link up next week with Neely and Ashley!

Next Weeks Questions: Lets take it WAAAAAY BACK!
1. Biggest Middle school fashion mistake
2. Who were your best friends in hs? Pics?
3. What was a typical weekend like for you in hs?
4. Did you have any boyfriends/girlfriends? Tell us about that
5. Did you have any secret codes with your friends? Spill your secrets!
6. If you could relive one day/moment/experience from middle school or high school, what would it be?
The questions are gonna be fun

Five on Friday

Thank the Lord, thank the Lord!!! This chick is happy it's Friday and that another week is in the books.

 THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

1. My Momma:

I mean she is one of my favorite people every week but this week she knocked it out of the park. On Tuesday I got a text from my HS bestie with a picture of this fabulous purse that she saw at a TJMaxx on the other side of town from where I live. Of course I sent to to my Mom just to point out how funny it was that even after all this time Jackie still knows me to a T.

Well yesterday on the way home from work I needed a pep talk so I called my mom and she answers and goes "guess what I'm doing".... "umm I don't know" "I'm on my way to TJMaxx to see if they have that purse"
YES!! Happy dance party in my car the rest of the ride home. My angel of a mother took a hard core detour on the way to her monthly sorority dinner to snag me that purse in case they sold out. And lucky for me she got the last one!

2. The husband:

He is great at putting up with my fad diets/workout plans/ideas/etc and this week he has done P90x3 with me every day! It just is great having him work out with me. It keeps me motivated to push harder and actually do the work out.

Which leads to...

3. P90x3:

Thank you for being so much more fun then the original P90x which I hated. But so far it has actually been an enjoyable experience. And Tony Horton you are a funny, funny man. 5 days down... 85 to go.

4. Cupcake:
Not the food, the cat.

If you know me you know that this doesn't make sense. He hates me and I don't like him either (so at least its mutual). But bless his heart... that massive storm we got on Tuesday night bonded us. CC has somehow managed to sneak his way into our room the past few weeks and has become a permanent resident in our bed at night, and that storm had us both jumping at every lightning bolt and roll of thunder. Tyler on the other hand slept through the whole thing except he did wake up once, shooting straight up ready to fight when a loud clap of thunder happened. I told him it was just a storm and 5 seconds later he was snoring again.
So yes it was just CC and I to brave the storm together. And at that moment I was actually thankful I had a ball of fur (that makes me sneeze) cuddled up next to me.

5. My swiffer:

Yes you read that right. That microfiber throw away cloth has been a blessing this week. It just so darn easy to get up all the dog hair so the Hubs and I can work out in the living room without being covered in hair. And when we both don't get home till after 6 and we still need to work out/eat/shower/relax, saving a few minuets by swiffering instead of having to sweep?! Awesome in my book

Five on Friday

 THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

If you live in the Charlotte area I think you already know my five things this week.

1. Snow day
2. Snow day
3. Snow day
4. Snow day
5. Snow day again

It snowed all day on Tuesday and was beautiful. Sadly though I only got to enjoy it looking out the windows at work. It didnt stick to the roads and was mostly melted by the time 5 o'clock rolled around.

Wedensday was a different story though. Got up and headed to work like a normal day. It started doing some winter type things around 10 and when I got a text from Tyler at 10:30 telling me to leave work because the roads were getting bad, I said "ok". Told my boss I was leaving and headed home.

There was really nothing on the ground near my work but 2 miles away it was sticking to the road on 485 which in Charlotte is a big deal. The next hour was the scariest drive of my life. My phone died half way home, ended up having to go a back, back way because of a car stuck on a hill, and ended it by sliding into my neighborhood almost ending up in a ditch in my front yard.

I then spent the next hour in a state of panic waiting for Tyler to get home. It took him 2.5 hours to go 46 miles, and he ended up parking in our back yard because there was no way he was going to make it up our sled hill of a driveway.

We spent the rest of the day running around in the snow with the dogs, making chicken and dumpling soup and cuddling watching tv and movies.

And Thursday was spent doing the exact same thing.

All this snow has been fun but I'll admit I'm ready for spring.

Oh and Happy Valentines Day!

DIY Love

I've got a simple Valentines Day DIY for ya.

It was cheap, quick and easy. And in my book you can't beat that combination.

What you'll need:
  • Burlap wrapped frame (Walmart: 2 pack was around $5)
  • Fine glitter (Hobby Lobby $4.99 - I already had this from Valentines day last year)
  • Mod Podge (I actually ended up using Jewel Glue which is around $4 at craft stores)
  • Sharpie
  • Large index card

1. Write Love on your index card with your sharpie

 2. Carefully shove the index card into the back of the frame so the word is visible through the burlap

3. Trace your word with the Jewel glue

4. Dump glitter all over the glue, like a lot of glitter...

5. Let the glitter sit for a few minuets as is, then dump it off and tap on the index card to get all of the excess glitter off the burlap. Remove the index card, hang it on your wall, and yay! You have a easy/cheap/quick Valentines Day decoration
